Tour Overview
This Ras Mohammed boat trip is the classic way to see the reefs at the southern tip of Sinai, where the Gulf of Suez meets the Gulf of Aqaba. You spend the day on a shared boat with other guests, stopping at two coral reefs chosen by the captain for the day’s conditions and, when the sea allows, at White Island, a pale sandbank surrounded by shallow turquoise water.
No experience is needed. The crew give a short briefing, hand out masks, fins and life jackets, and a snorkel guide swims with anyone who wants help. Expect reef fish, hard and soft corals and, with luck, a turtle or ray, though wildlife is never guaranteed. Between stops you can sunbathe on deck or sit in the shade, and a freshly cooked lunch is served on board.
The route depends on wind, waves and park rules, so stops can change on the day, and White Island may be partly covered at high tide. In strong winds the port authority sometimes closes the sea; if that happens we move your trip or refund it in full.

Itinerary
07:30 – Hotel pickup
A shared air-conditioned minibus collects you from your hotel in Sharm El Sheikh; the exact time depends on your hotel and is confirmed the day before. Bring your passport or a copy, as marina staff may check identification before boarding.
08:30 – Board at the marina
Meet the crew, find a seat on deck and choose a mask and fins that fit. The boat sails south along the coast towards Ras Mohammed while the guide explains how to use the equipment, how to protect the coral and how to get back on board safely.
10:00 – First snorkelling stop
The boat moors at a sheltered reef inside the national park for around 45 minutes in the water. Coral gardens here attract parrotfish, butterflyfish, anemones and clownfish. Less confident swimmers can wear a life jacket and stay close to the guide, or simply watch from the boat.
12:00 – White Island
Weather and tide permitting, the boat stops near White Island, a sandbank in the middle of the sea. Wade in the shallow water, swim or take photos of the bright sand against the deep blue. The amount of visible sand changes with the tide, so this can be a shallow-water stop rather than a beach walk.
13:00 – Lunch on board
Back on the boat, the crew serve a freshly cooked lunch, usually rice, pasta, salads and chicken or fish, with vegetarian options on request. Soft drinks and water are included throughout the day, so you can relax on deck as the boat moves to the next site.

14:00 – Second reef and return
Snorkel a second reef, often with different corals and deeper blue water at the reef edge. Afterwards the boat cruises back to the marina, arriving around 15:30 to 16:00, and the minibus returns you to your hotel in the late afternoon.
Good to know: Sea conditions decide the route: the captain may change, shorten or swap stops for safety, White Island can be partly submerged, and marine life sightings are never guaranteed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be a good swimmer?
You should be comfortable in the water, but you do not need to be a strong swimmer. Life jackets are provided, the guide stays with beginners, and you can stay on board at any stop. Tell the crew before you get in if you cannot swim or feel nervous in open water.
Is the boat shared or private?
This is a shared boat with other guests, which keeps the price low. Boats are usually larger day boats with shaded seating, a sun deck and toilets. If you would prefer a private boat for your family or group, contact us and we will quote for it separately.
Will we definitely walk on White Island?
Not always. White Island is a natural sandbank, and its size changes with the tide, wind and season. On some days there is a wide strip of sand; on others most of it is under shallow water. The captain only approaches when conditions and park rules allow.
What should I bring?
Swimwear, a towel, reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and a change of clothes. A light jacket helps in winter, as it can feel cool on deck. Bring your passport or a copy for marina checks, and some cash for tips or drinks not included.
Is it suitable for children?
Yes, children who are happy on boats usually love it. Children’s life jackets are available, and they must be supervised by an adult in the water at all times. Children under 6 travel free and ages 6 to 11 pay half price.
