Tour Overview
This Giza pyramids quad bike tour is a fun change of pace after a day of museums. In the late afternoon your driver takes you to a quad camp at the edge of the desert, and after a short briefing you ride out in a line behind an experienced lead rider, across sand and gravel tracks with the pyramids on the horizon. The route stays outside the fenced archaeological zone.
Timing is set so you are out on the sand as the sun drops, which is when the pyramids glow and the light is best for photos. The quads are automatic and easy to handle, so no experience is needed, and the lead rider keeps the speed comfortable for the slowest person in the group. You are back at your hotel around three hours after pickup.

Itinerary
15:00–16:30 – Hotel pickup
Your driver collects you from your hotel in Cairo or Giza in a private air-conditioned vehicle. Pickup is timed to the season’s sunset, so it is earlier in winter and later in summer. The drive to the quad camp near the pyramids takes about 15 to 45 minutes depending on your hotel and traffic.
At the camp – Safety briefing
Meet the camp team, choose a helmet and a scarf for the dust, and get a short briefing on the controls: thumb throttle, brakes and how to ride in line. You practise for a few minutes before setting off. Children under 16 ride as passengers with an adult, and tandem bikes are available for couples.
Ride – One hour in the desert
Follow your lead rider across open desert tracks behind the plateau, with the three pyramids in view for most of the ride. The pace is steady rather than extreme, with gentle dunes and a stop on a ridge for photos as the sun sets. Bottled water and a small snack are provided at the stop.
Return – Back to your hotel
Ride back to the camp as the light fades, hand back your quad and helmet and rinse off the dust. Your driver is waiting to take you back to your hotel. The whole outing lasts about three hours, so there is still time for dinner or an evening activity in Cairo.
Good to know: The ride takes place in open desert outside the archaeological site; quads are not allowed inside the pyramids area. Strong wind or sandstorms can delay or shorten the ride.

Do I need experience or a licence?
No licence or experience is needed. The quads are automatic, with a thumb throttle and hand brakes, and you get a briefing and a short practice before setting off. The lead rider sets a steady pace and stops if anyone needs a break, so first-timers usually feel comfortable within minutes.
Can children join?
Yes. Riders aged 16 and over can drive their own quad. Younger children can ride as passengers behind an adult, and we can arrange a separate small quad for teenagers if the camp has one available. Children aged 6 to 11 pay half price; under 6 travel free as passengers.
What should I wear?
Closed shoes, long trousers or light clothes you do not mind getting dusty, and sunglasses. The camp provides a helmet and usually a scarf to cover your face from the dust. In winter, bring a warm layer, as the desert cools quickly once the sun goes down.
Do we go inside the pyramids area?
No. Quad bikes are only allowed in the open desert outside the fenced archaeological zone. You get wide views of the pyramids from the tracks and the ridge, but to walk around the monuments and see the Sphinx up close, combine this with one of our guided Giza day tours.
