Tour Overview
The Giza pyramids Sound and Light Show is a relaxed way to see the plateau after dark. You sit in the open-air seating area opposite the Great Sphinx while coloured lights pick out the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, and a recorded narration, voiced as the Sphinx, tells the story of the pharaohs who built them. It is theatrical and a little old-fashioned, and many visitors enjoy it for exactly that.
We keep the logistics simple. A private driver collects you from your hotel in Cairo or Giza, and our representative meets you at the entrance with your tickets and makes sure you are seated before the show begins. Afterwards there is time for night photos before the drive back. It pairs well with a daytime visit to the Grand Egyptian Museum or Islamic Cairo.

Itinerary
Evening – Hotel pickup
Your driver meets you in the hotel lobby about an hour before the show, earlier from central or eastern Cairo, where evening traffic can be slow. The private air-conditioned car or van takes you to the Sphinx entrance of the Giza plateau. Hotels in Giza are usually only 10 to 20 minutes away.
Arrival – Tickets and seating
Our representative meets you at the entrance with your tickets, which are booked for the show in your language. They walk you to the open-air seating area facing the Sphinx and the pyramids. Bring a light jacket in winter, as desert evenings can be cool, and arrive early for a central seat.
Show – About one hour of light and narration
As darkness falls, the monuments are lit in changing colours while the narration covers Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, the building of the pyramids and the legends of the Sphinx. Shows usually start around 18:30 to 19:30 depending on the season, with later shows in other languages. English is offered on most evenings.
After the show – Photos and return
When the show ends, take a few minutes for photos of the floodlit Sphinx before the lights go down. Your driver is waiting near the exit to take you back to your hotel. The whole evening, including transfers, lasts around three hours from central Giza and a little longer from downtown Cairo.
Good to know: Show times and the language rota change by season and are set by the operator; a show can occasionally be cancelled for strong wind or rain, in which case we refund the ticket or rebook.

What time does the Sound and Light Show start?
The first show usually starts between about 18:30 in winter and 19:30 in summer, with further shows later in the evening in other languages. The operator publishes the language rota, which can change, so we confirm your exact start time and pickup time when you book.
Which languages are available?
The narration is offered in English on most evenings, and in languages such as French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Japanese and Arabic on set nights. Tell us your preferred language and we will book the right show. Headsets with translation are sometimes available for other languages.
Is it suitable for children?
Yes. Children usually enjoy the lights and the story, and the show lasts only about an hour. The seating is outdoors, so bring a warm layer for them in winter. Children under 6 travel free and pay only their own reduced ticket; ages 6 to 11 pay half price.
Can I visit the pyramids during the day as well?
Yes, but the evening show ticket does not include daytime entry. Many travellers combine this evening with our Giza pyramids day tour or a visit to the Grand Egyptian Museum the same day, so you see the monuments up close in daylight and lit up at night.
