Tour Overview
This Luxor overnight trip from Cairo gives you two unhurried days in ancient Thebes, with return flights, a night in a comfortable 4-star hotel and your own Egyptologist guide. Day one covers the East Bank temples, ending at Luxor Temple as the evening lights come on, and day two crosses the Nile to the royal tombs and temples of the West Bank.
Splitting the sightseeing over two days means shorter, cooler visits, time for a rest at the hotel and no midnight return. It also makes it possible to add a sunrise hot air balloon flight over the West Bank, one of the best early-morning experiences in Egypt, before your guide collects you for the tombs.
Everything is private: your car, driver and guide are for your party only, entrance tickets are prepaid, and lunch is included on both days. It suits couples, families and anyone who wants to see Luxor properly without giving up several days of a Cairo-based holiday, and it can be extended easily.

Itinerary
Day 1 – Flight to Luxor, Karnak and Luxor Temple
Pickup from your Cairo hotel for a morning flight to Luxor, about one hour. Your guide meets you and takes you to Karnak, the great temple of Amun, with its Hypostyle Hall, obelisks and sacred lake. After lunch at a local restaurant, check in and rest at your hotel. In the late afternoon visit Luxor Temple, beautifully lit as dusk falls. Evening free on the Corniche.

Day 2 – West Bank and flight back to Cairo
After breakfast (or an optional sunrise balloon flight), cross to the West Bank. Visit three tombs in the Valley of the Kings, Queen Hatshepsut’s terraced temple at Deir el-Bahari and the Colossi of Memnon. Lunch at a local restaurant, then transfer to Luxor airport for the flight to Cairo, where our driver returns you to your hotel in the evening.

Good to know: Flight times depend on the airline schedule and may change the order of visits. Balloon flights are weather-dependent and can be cancelled by the authorities on the morning; if that happens the balloon fee is refunded.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I add a hot air balloon ride?
Yes. A sunrise balloon flight over the West Bank fits neatly into the morning of day 2, with hotel pickup at around 04:30 and return by 07:30, before your West Bank tour. It is booked as an add-on. Flights depend on the wind and permission on the day, so they cannot be guaranteed.
Which hotel will I stay in?
We use well-reviewed 4-star hotels in central Luxor or on the Corniche, close to Luxor Temple, with a twin or double room and breakfast. Solo travellers get their own room, which is reflected in the single price. A 5-star upgrade can be quoted when you book.
Is two days enough for Luxor?
Two days covers the essential sites on both banks at a comfortable pace. If you would like to add Medinet Habu, the Valley of the Queens, the Luxor Museum or a felucca sail, tell us when booking and we can extend your stay or change the programme, since the trip is private.
Can we take the train instead of flying?
Yes, the overnight sleeper train between Cairo and Luxor is an option for travellers who prefer it, though it adds two nights on board and reduces sightseeing time. Flying is faster and usually the better choice for a two-day trip. Ask us for a quote if you would like the train.
