Flying into Alexandria rather than Cairo does not mean missing the pyramids. This private Cairo trip from Borg El Arab Airport collects you on arrival, or from your Alexandria hotel, and drives you to Giza for the Great Pyramid, the Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum, with an Egyptologist guide and lunch included.
Giza is about 2.5 to 3 hours from the airport on the desert road, so this is a long day, and we plan it honestly around your flight. It works best with a morning arrival. At the end you choose: we drop you at your hotel in Cairo or Giza, which turns the trip into a sightseeing transfer with your luggage safely in the vehicle, or we drive you back to Alexandria for the same price.

Itinerary
07:00 – Pickup at Borg El Arab or in Alexandria
Your driver meets you outside arrivals at Borg El Arab Airport with a name sign, or collects you from your Alexandria hotel. Luggage goes in the back of the private air-conditioned vehicle and you set off on the desert road to Giza, about 2.5 to 3 hours. Your guide either travels with you or meets you at Giza. Later flight arrivals shift every time below.
10:00 – Giza Pyramids and the Sphinx
Walk around the base of the Great Pyramid of Khufu, then drive to the panoramic viewpoint where all three pyramids line up for the classic photograph. Finish at the Great Sphinx and the Valley Temple of Khafre while your guide explains how and why the pyramids were built. Entry inside the Great Pyramid is an optional extra ticket.
12:30 – Lunch near the plateau
Lunch at a local restaurant near the pyramids, with Egyptian grills, rice, salads and dips, and vegetarian dishes available. It is a chance to rest before the afternoon in the museum.

13:30 – Grand Egyptian Museum
The Grand Egyptian Museum is fully open, including the Tutankhamun galleries. See the colossal statue of Ramesses II in the atrium, the Grand Staircase lined with royal sculpture, and the boy king’s gold mask, chariots and jewellery. Allow about two and a half hours with your guide.
16:00 – Drop-off in Cairo or return to Alexandria
If you are staying in Cairo or Giza, you are at your hotel within about an hour, depending on traffic. If you are returning to Alexandria, the drive takes about 3 hours and you are usually back by 19:00 to 20:00.
Good to know: This tour needs a morning arrival at Borg El Arab (landing by about 09:00). For later flights we suggest an Alexandria night first, or our Alexandria airport transfer and a Giza tour the next day.

What if my flight is delayed?
We track your flight and your driver waits. A short delay simply moves the day later. If the delay is long enough that the museum would close before you can see it properly, we will discuss options with you, such as swapping the museum for more time at the pyramids or moving the museum to another day, rather than rushing you.
Can you take my luggage and leave me at my Cairo hotel?
Yes. Many guests use this trip as a sightseeing transfer from Alexandria to Cairo. Your bags stay locked in the private vehicle while you visit the pyramids and the museum, and we finish at your hotel in Cairo or Giza. Tell us the hotel when you book. The price is the same whether you end in Cairo or back in Alexandria.
How long is the drive from Borg El Arab Airport to Giza?
About 2.5 to 3 hours on the Cairo–Alexandria desert road, depending on traffic as you reach Greater Cairo. Expect a longer return to Alexandria on Thursday evenings and before public holidays. Your driver stops for a break whenever you need one.
Is the Grand Egyptian Museum fully open?
Yes. The Grand Egyptian Museum is fully open, including the Tutankhamun galleries with the king’s complete burial collection. The royal mummies are not here; they are displayed at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, which we can add on a second day in Cairo.
