Tour Overview
This Egypt honeymoon package is built for two people who want to see the great sites together without spending the trip in queues or crowded coaches. You have your own Egyptologist guide and driver throughout, so the pace is yours: linger at the Sphinx, skip a tomb if the heat gets too much, or stop for mint tea whenever you like. The heart of the week is four nights on a 5★ Nile cruise, drifting between Luxor and Aswan past palm groves and mud-brick villages.
We add small touches that make the trip feel like a celebration rather than a sightseeing marathon. Your cabin is decorated on arrival, there is a honeymoon cake on board, a private felucca at sunset in Aswan and a candlelit dinner cruise on your last night in Cairo. Days are balanced, with early starts kept for the places where they genuinely matter, such as the Valley of the Kings before the heat builds.
Hotels in Cairo are 4★ with good comfort and service, and we can upgrade you to a 5★ room with a Nile or Pyramid view on request. A sunrise hot air balloon flight over Luxor’s West Bank is a popular optional extra for couples; it depends on the wind on the morning, so it can never be guaranteed, and a cancelled flight is fully refunded.
Highlights
- Private Egyptologist guide for the Pyramids, Sphinx and Grand Egyptian Museum
- 4-night Luxor to Aswan Nile cruise on a 5★ ship, with the cabin prepared for honeymooners
- Private sunset felucca sail around Aswan’s islands
- Candlelit farewell dinner on the Nile in Cairo
- Valley of the Kings, Karnak, Edfu, Kom Ombo and Philae temples
- Domestic flights Cairo–Luxor and Aswan–Cairo included
Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrive in Cairo
Our representative meets you inside Cairo International Airport, helps with the visa counter if needed and walks you through to your private air-conditioned car. The drive to your 4★ hotel takes around 45 minutes depending on traffic. After a long flight the rest of the day is yours to relax. Your guide calls in the evening to run through the week, answer questions and confirm any optional extras you would like to add, such as the Luxor balloon flight.
Meals: None
Day 2 – Pyramids, Sphinx & Grand Egyptian Museum
Start early at the Giza Plateau while the light is soft and the crowds are thinner. Your Egyptologist explains how the Great Pyramid of Khufu was built, then takes you to the panoramic viewpoint for photos of all three pyramids together, and down to the Sphinx and Valley Temple. After lunch, spend the afternoon at the Grand Egyptian Museum, where the complete Tutankhamun collection is displayed alongside the colossal statue of Ramesses II in the Grand Staircase hall.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Day 3 – Fly to Luxor, Board Your Nile Cruise
A morning flight takes you to Luxor, about an hour in the air. You are met and driven to your 5★ Nile cruise ship, where your cabin has been prepared with flowers and a small welcome for newlyweds. After lunch on board, visit the vast Karnak Temple complex with its forest of columns in the Hypostyle Hall, then Luxor Temple, which is at its most atmospheric as the lights come on at dusk. Dinner and overnight on board in Luxor.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 4 – Valley of the Kings & Sail South
If you have booked the optional balloon ride, you will be collected before dawn for a flight over the West Bank, weather permitting. After breakfast, cross to the Valley of the Kings to explore three royal tombs with your guide, followed by the terraced Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. Return to the ship for lunch as it sets sail south towards Esna. Spend the afternoon on the sun deck watching river life slide by.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 5 – Edfu & Kom Ombo
After passing through the Esna lock, the ship moors at Edfu. A horse-drawn carriage takes you to the Temple of Horus, the best-preserved temple in Egypt, with its roof, sanctuary and carved walls almost complete. Back on board, the ship sails on to Kom Ombo, where an unusual double temple is dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon-headed Haroeris. The small Crocodile Museum next door displays mummified crocodiles. Sail overnight towards Aswan.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 6 – Aswan, Philae Temple & Sunset Felucca
Aswan is the most relaxed stop on the Nile, and today reflects that. Take a short motorboat ride to Philae Temple, the island sanctuary of Isis rescued from rising waters and rebuilt stone by stone. Visit the Unfinished Obelisk in the granite quarries and stop at the High Dam for views over Lake Nasser. Late afternoon, step aboard a private felucca for a quiet sail around Elephantine and Kitchener’s Islands as the sun drops behind the desert.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 7 – Fly to Cairo, Khan el-Khalili & Dinner Cruise
Disembark after breakfast and fly back to Cairo. After checking into your hotel, your guide takes you through Islamic Cairo, past medieval mosques and gateways, to the Khan el-Khalili bazaar to browse for lanterns, spices and jewellery, and to sit at one of the old coffee houses. In the evening you are collected for a candlelit dinner cruise on the Nile, with the city lights reflected on the water: a fitting final night together.
Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Day 8 – Departure
Enjoy a final breakfast and a slower morning. Depending on your flight time, there may be time for a walk along the Nile corniche or a last visit to a café. Our representative collects you from the hotel with your private car and accompanies you to Cairo International Airport, helping with luggage and check-in formalities so your honeymoon ends as smoothly as it began. We will be in touch after you return home to hear how it went.
Meals: Breakfast
Good to know: Balloon flights and the Abu Simbel trip are optional extras; balloon flights depend on the weather and are never guaranteed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can we upgrade to 5★ hotels or a higher-category cruise?
Yes. Many couples upgrade the Cairo hotel to a 5★ property with Nile or Pyramid views, and some move up to an ultra deluxe cruise ship with larger cabins and balconies. Tell us your preferences when you enquire and we will send a revised quote with the exact difference in price, so you can decide what is worth it for you.
Is the hot air balloon flight guaranteed?
No. Balloon flights over Luxor depend on wind and visibility at dawn, and the civil aviation authority can cancel flights on the morning itself. If your flight is cancelled for weather you receive a full refund for that extra. We recommend booking it but treating it as a bonus rather than the centrepiece of your trip.
When is the best time of year for an Egypt honeymoon?
October to April is the most comfortable period, with warm days and cool evenings. December and January are busiest and cost more. Spring is lovely but can bring sandy khamsin winds. Summer is very hot in Luxor and Aswan, though cruises run year-round and prices are lower, so it suits couples who do not mind early starts and afternoon rests.
Do we need a visa, and can you help with it?
Most nationalities, including UK, EU and US citizens, need a visa. You can apply for an e-visa online before travelling or, for many nationalities, buy a visa on arrival at Cairo airport. Our representative meets you before passport control and can guide you to the correct counter. Always check the current rules for your passport before booking.
What should we wear when visiting temples and mosques?
Light, loose clothing that covers shoulders and knees works well everywhere and keeps you cooler in the sun. At mosques women will need to cover their hair, so pack a light scarf. Comfortable walking shoes are essential for temples and tombs. On the cruise, smart-casual clothes are fine for dinner, and you may enjoy something dressier for the farewell evening.
