Tour Overview
This family-friendly Cairo tour packs the big sights into one day without wearing anyone out. Your private Egyptologist guide tells the story of the pharaohs in a way children enjoy, with mummies, hidden chambers, animal gods and a little hieroglyph practice, while the driver keeps the air-conditioned vehicle close by for short hops between sights. Breaks for snacks, shade and restrooms are built in.
You start at the Giza pyramids and the Sphinx, then head into central Cairo for lunch and a visit to the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square, with its statues, painted coffins and animal mummies. The day ends calmly on the Nile, sailing on a traditional felucca as the city slows down. Because the tour is private, you can shorten any stop or swap in extra time wherever your children are happiest.

Itinerary
08:30 – Hotel pickup
Your guide and driver meet you at your hotel in Cairo or Giza. If you need child seats, tell us when booking and we will fit them in the vehicle. On the way to Giza, your guide hands out a little background in story form, so children know what to look for when they first see the pyramids.
09:30 – Giza pyramids and Sphinx
See the Great Pyramid up close, drive to the panoramic viewpoint for a family photo with all three pyramids, then visit the Great Sphinx. Walking is kept short, and a camel or horse photo stop can be added at your own cost. Allow about two and a half hours, including a drink break.
12:30 – Family lunch
Stop for lunch at a relaxed local restaurant with dishes that suit children as well as adults, such as grilled chicken, rice, chips, pasta and fresh bread, plus Egyptian specialities for the curious. Vegetarian and allergy needs can be handled if you let us know in advance. Drinks are extra.

14:00 – Egyptian Museum, Tahrir Square
Visit the Egyptian Museum with a short, story-led route: the Narmer Palette, giant statues, painted coffins, model boats and soldiers, and the much-loved animal mummies. Your guide keeps the pace to children’s attention spans, around 90 minutes. Tutankhamun’s treasures are now at the Grand Egyptian Museum; ask us if you would prefer to visit there instead.
16:00 – Felucca ride on the Nile
Board a private felucca, a traditional wooden sailing boat, for about 45 minutes on the Nile. Life jackets are provided for children. With the city skyline on both sides and the breeze off the water, it is a calm end to the day. Your driver then takes you back to your hotel by around 17:30.
Good to know: Felucca sailing depends on the wind; on very still days the boat may be helped along by a small motor boat.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this tour suitable for young children?
Yes. The day is designed for families, with short walking sections, regular breaks and a guide who explains things through stories. Toddlers usually manage well with a carrier and a nap in the vehicle. Children under 6 travel free and children aged 6 to 11 pay half price.
Can we bring a pushchair?
You can, but the Giza plateau is sandy and uneven in many places, so a baby carrier is often easier there. The Egyptian Museum has some steps and older floors. The vehicle has room for a folded pushchair, so you can use it where it helps.
Can we visit the Grand Egyptian Museum instead?
Yes. If you would like to see Tutankhamun’s treasures, we can replace the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir with the Grand Egyptian Museum, which is close to the pyramids. The GEM ticket costs more, so a supplement of about $25 per adult applies. Ask us when booking.
Is the felucca ride safe for children?
Yes. The boat is private, sails slowly, and life jackets are provided for children. Your guide stays with you on board. If anyone is nervous about the water, the boatman can keep close to the bank, and you can shorten the sail at any time.
